Meet The Staff




Julie A. Setzer, Director of Dance (Teaching disciplines: Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Production all ages):
Miss Julie is celebrating her 45th year in dance and 24th year as DOD of Julie’s Dance Studio, Ltd. Miss Julie continues her study through continuing education seminars, conventions, and classes throughout the United States. Ballet is the foundation from which all dance is formed and Miss Julie is a ballet based teacher receiving her education from famed principle dancer with the New York Ballet Company, teacher, author and choreographer ‘Miss’ Gail Grant. Other teachers in ballet, tap and jazz have included: Al Gilbert, George Zoritch, Rhoni Mahler, Frank Hatchett, Luigi and others.

Miss Julie was formerly on the staff of Bowling Green State University, Northwest State College, Becky’s School of Dance and Vivienne’s Dance Studio. She has been a guest teacher at studios, colleges and gives all types of dance and dance related classes to area organizations, businesses, gymnastic clubs and ice skating clubs. She is a member of the Cecchitti Council of America, Professional Dance Teachers Association, Dance Educators of America, National Association of Performing Arts Educators, Ohio Dance Organization, Lifetime Achievement member of Cambridge Who’s Who Among Women Executives and Professionals and The DesignWorks Costume Advisory Board.

Miss Julie’s students have toured nationally with Hoctor’s Dance Caravan, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian cruise lines, performed in New York City’s historic Manhattan Theatre in “The Nutcracker on Broadway”, performed at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Capital One All American Half Time Show and served as host for master classes with the Radio City Rockettes, LA’s Paul Lee and others. JDS students are invited each year to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Cleveland Cavaliers halftime show and many other opportunities throughout the nation. Miss Julie’s past students can be seen in professional venues throughout Chicago, New York and L.A.

Miss Julie resides in Deshler with her husband Bill. They have two sons: Marc- age 24, who resides in southern Ohio and William- 17 who attends Patrick Henry High School.

Erin L. Schwiebert, Teacher (Teaching disciplines: Ballet, Tap, Jazz all ages):

Miss Erin is celebrating her 24th year in dance and is an accomplished dancer and teacher in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz and acrobat. Miss Erin is entering her 13th year of teaching at JDS. Miss Erin was a 6-year member of the Senior Specialty Dancers, 8 year student demonstrator, and was the 1997 Sr. VIP.

Miss Erin has been a featured performer in all disciplines of dance and has performed at functions throughout Northwest Ohio. Miss Erin adds a sparkle, enthusiasm, and energy to each of her classes and is a favorite at the studio with students and parents.

Miss Erin graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2002 and is currently employed at BGSU. Miss Erin and husband Ryan are the proud parents of two sons, Mason James born in March 2005 and Gavin William born in February 2008.

Sara Whitman, Teacher (Teaching disciplines: Ballet, Tap, Jazz all ages):

Miss Sara is celebrating her 24th year involved in dance, and is a treasured JDS staff member. Miss Sara has done an extraordinary job as our Backstage Director for Star-Style for the past 13 years, and has been an invaluable presence in the studio as a member of the Senior Specialty Dancers, student demonstrator and Assistant Teacher. Miss Sara is an excellent dancer, performer, and teacher in ballet, tap and jazz and is entering her 8th year of teaching at JDS.

Miss Sara is an accomplished craftsman and is employed at Wood County Hospital. Miss Sara and husband Bill are the proud parents of Adyson Nichole born in May 2005.

Jennifer Barbour, Office Manager: Miss Jen has been involved with dance at JDS for the past nine years and is an invaluable resource in our office. Miss Jen is our “Go To” person whenever there is a question. Miss Jen graduated from BGSU in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and English. Miss Jen and husband Mark are the proud parents of daughters Casey-age 10, Sydney-7, and son Luke- born in November 2005.

Kim Moomaw, Volunteer Coordinator: Miss Kim has been involved with JDS for the past five years and is our volunteer coordinator as well as our Nutcracker…All Jazzed Up Assistant Director and Costume Coordinator. Miss Kim can also be seen in the office lending a hand whenever needed.

Miss Kim and husband Bob are the proud parents of Timmy-age 18, Bobby-17, Cassi-15, Mattie-13 and Emily-12.

Dolores Black, Ballroom: Ms. Dolores is a Cecchetti based ballet teacher with training in Spanish dancing, tap, modern, square/folk and ballroom. Dolores has taught private group classes from the elementary through the university level and has also participated in ballroom and contra dancing in exhibitions and competitions. Choreographic works have included: Brigadoon, Oklahoma, My Fair Lady, Stop the World I Want to Get Off, Ernest in Love, She Loves Me, Little Mary Sunshine, Peter Gunn and many others. Dolores was also the Director for Orchesis, which is BGSU’s modern dance club.

Andrea Krieger, Teacher (Teaching disciplines: Hip-Hop, Acro-Tumbling, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Production all ages): Miss Andrea is the newest member of the JDS team and is celebrating her 21st year in dance and her 7th year as an instructor. Miss Andrea is educated in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, production, lyrical, hip-hop, acro-tumbling and competitive gymnastics.

Miss Andrea and husband Greg have one daughter Madison-age 1 ½ yrs.

Kelly LaPlante, Bookkeeping: Kelly is entering her third year with JDS and is in charge of all things accounting. Kelly and husband Dan have two daughters, Cassy- age 7, and Rachel-3.
